Description
Fresden Farmhouse is a mid to late 17th century building that was restored in the 1930s. It is two and a half storeys high, constructed of rubble with a stone tile roof. The farmhouse features one large ridge chimney with four attached diagonal shafts and two nipped dormers. It has five bays, with a central gabled tower porch that includes a three-light window on the first floor and a four-centre arched moulded doorway below. The studded door has diamond pattern strap hinges and a knocker dated "16ACE50," with a modern inner door. There are four ranges of four-light mullion windows, all of which are new, featuring drips and relieving arches, except for the later right-hand bay. The lead main water pipes on each side are dated 1933. At the rear, there is a projecting gabled stair-turret and a central chimney break, with a Tudor arch doorway to the left that has been renovated. There are two projecting wings, with the left-hand one being modern. Inside, the farmhouse retains several features, including Tudor arch fireplaces and an imported hall fireplace, as well as a moulded plank and muntin partition at the north end of the hall.
