Description
Round Robin Farmhouse is a building dated 1772, though it may have been rebuilt around 1800. It is two and a half storeys high, constructed of rubble with brick quoins and quoined brick dressings. There is a three-course band of vitreous headers above the ground floor. The farmhouse has a modern tile roof featuring two hipped dormers and gable end chimneys, along with another chimney. The structure consists of three bays, with segmental headed glazing bar sash windows set in moulded frames.
To the left of the center, there is a projecting gabled porch from the 20th century, which includes a Regency knocker. There is a blocked door located to the right of the center, and above it is a stone tablet inscribed with "F.W. A.D. 1772," as well as a Royal Exchange Fire Insurance Mark (No 186744) that was taken out in 1801 for the house, dairy, barns, rickyards, and utensils.
At the rear, there is an L-plan extension with two ridge heights, the lower part of which has a stone tile roof. The nearby barn and granary, which are contemporary to the farmhouse, have lost their roofs and are not considered of special interest. The farmhouse is notable as an early dated example of the use of brick quoins and dressings, which became common in the 19th century.
