Description

24 High Street is an early 18th-century town house known as Inigo House, although it is incorrectly attributed to Sir Roger Pratt. The building has three storeys and a basement, featuring four bays. It is constructed of purple brick with red brick window dressings and has rubbed brick segmental arches above the windows, aprons, and five-course bands over the floors. The house includes stone chamfered quoins, a plinth, a moulded cornice, keystones, and coping on a panelled parapet. The cornice projects over the quoins and keys. The glazing bar sash windows have flush moulded frames.

To the right of the centre is a fine doorway with a wide stucco surround, fluted Corinthian pilasters, and a broken back segmental pediment. The door itself is a segmental-headed ten-panel design with a foliate key above. There are two rainwater pipes with conical heads and a Phoenix Fire Insurance Mark. The roof is flat and leaded. At the rear, there is a two-storey extension featuring four cross mullion windows and a stone slate roof. The front of the property is enclosed by railings with urn-capped standards.

Inside, the entrance hall has been altered, while the front room retains raised and fielded panelling. A fine staircase features fluted balusters, a sweeping handrail, and a panelled dado, along with a panelled dome. The attribution to Pratt is likely due to the house's proximity to Coleshill.
