Description

Harwood Farmhouse, now a house, was built in the late 17th century, with alterations in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed from roughly-dressed limestone rubble with stone dressings, quoins, and has a plain tiled roof with gable stacks. The farmhouse is two and a half storeys high and has four windows. These are 3-light casement windows with chamfered mullions, a hood mould, and a relieving arch, with the exception of the first-floor window second from the right which lacks a relieving arch. There are three gables rising to ridge height at attic level, each with a 2-light casement window with a hood mould; all windows have leaded lights. The front door is a 6-panelled door with a fanlight and radial glazing bars, flanked by engaged Doric columns with triglyphs and guttae above each column, and topped by a broken pediment. On the right return side are two single-light casement windows on the ground floor, with leaded lights and a hood mould. The interior was not inspected.
