Description

Laurel Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates from the 17th century, with alterations and additions made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble with stone dressings. The front features an asbestos slate roof, while the rear has a double Roman tiled roof with brick and stone ridge and gable stacks. The building has a T-plan layout and a through passage.

It is 1½ storeys high and has three windows on the front. The ground floor includes two 3-light casements, each with four panes, set in chamfered surrounds and hollow-chamfered mullions. To the left, there is a smaller 2-light casement also in a chamfered surround. There is a 20th-century glass porch with a panelled and glazed door to the right of the ridge stack. The large gable on the right has coped verges, kneelers, and a ball finial, along with a 3-light casement similar to those on the ground floor. There are two smaller gables to the left, each featuring a similar 2-light casement and roll finial.

The right side of the building has a large external stack with pigeon holes to the left, while the left side features a large buttress. The left return is 1½ storeys high, and the rear wing has a 20th-century window under the eaves and a small lean-to in the angle. The rear of the farmhouse has a 19th-century door with a timber lintel, a blocked window with a timber lintel to the left, and a 2-light first-floor window with leaded lights, a chamfered wooden frame, and a mullion. The inner side of the rear wing has a 19th-century door with a cambered head, a 2-light casement with a similar head to the right, and the rear of the wing includes 20th-century ground and first-floor windows along with a lean-to. The interior is not accessible.
