Description

Church Farmhouse, now a house, dates to 1651, with 20th-century alterations. It is constructed of coursed limestone rabble with stone dressings, and has a pantiled roof with stone ridge tiles to the rear, raised coped verges, and gable stacks. The house has an L-shaped plan, featuring a cross passage and a stair turret in the angle, and a symmetrical front. The main elevation has two storeys and three windows, all being 3-light casements with ovolo mullions, hood moulds, and high relieving arches, though the central first-floor window is of two lights without a relieving arch. Remaining leaded lights are present at the first floor, along with iron casements and stanchions. The central 20th-century front door has a scroll-moulded lintel. A single-storey addition to the left includes a garage door. The left return displays a 4-pane attic window with a timber lintel, while the right return has a 2-light casement with a timber lintel on the first floor. A two-storey wing with a steeper roof and lower eaves level extends to the rear, containing 20th-century windows. A two-storey gabled stair turret has a 3-pane casement with a timber lintel. The rear of the main house features two 4-pane casements at ground floor. An attached outbuilding has two 20th-century doors and two windows, as well as roof lights. The interior, which was not inspected, includes a series of fine moulded and stopped door frames, and a plaster overmantel with a fleur-de-lys in the first-floor front right room. Further details are documented in supporting sources.
