Description
The Badminton House Servants Wing, located immediately to the southwest of Badminton House, is a late 17th-century structure that has been altered and extended in the 19th century, with dates of "1841" on the clock tower and "1882" on the north gable of the west range. The building is rendered with freestone dressings and features a Cotswold stone slate roof, hipped on the south range. It is arranged in a U shape, with the east range comprising six bays, the south range seven bays, and the west range nine bays. The ground floor has 16-pane glazing bar sash windows beneath a continuous string course, while the first floor contains 2-light casement windows, although there are blocked 2-light casements on the ground floor of the south elevation of the south range. The south range also includes two blocked doors with bolection moulded surrounds and a central archway that features a moulded archivolt and keystone. This archway is set within a slightly projecting gabled section that has a gabled head, topped by a timber clock tower and lantern.
