Description
The Gables is a farmhouse dated 1669, featuring a rendered exterior and a double Roman tiled roof with rubble stacks. It stands two storeys tall with attics and has two steep stone gables. The central section includes a two-storey projecting gabled porch flanked by a single bay on either side. The windows are three-light casements with ovolo moulded mullions and surrounds, and there is a 16-pane glazing bar sash window to the right. The central entrance is a plank studded door with strap hinges that have open scroll ends, an ogee moulded surround, and the date inscribed on the lintel. To the left, there is a single-storey and attic gabled projecting wing with a single bay that features two- and three-light casement windows. This building is a notable example of the gabled vernacular farmhouse style.
