Description
Redfield Lodge Farmhouse, adjoining barn, and Redfield Cottage date from the early 19th century and are located on Newpit Lane in Bitton. The farmhouse features rendered walling, a stone coped parapet, end pilasters, a slurried slate roof, and brick stacks. It is two storeys high with three sash windows that have glazing bars, all set within plain stone architraves. Above the central first-floor window, there is an obscured date panel. The central entrance has a chamfered doorway with a stone slab hood supported by brackets.
To the left of the farmhouse is the cottage, which is similar in style but has only one window and a plain door to the right, also with a slab hood. There is an intervening barn section that includes a later lean-to extension with a corrugated iron roof. The road elevation of the farmhouse has been altered by a large two-storey rubble crenellated bow, which includes a new porch. The barn features a wide cambered head opening with a keystone and a circular opening to the left, positioned between the house and the cottage. The road elevation of the cottage has a central plain door, a single-light window to the left, and a two-light flat mullion window to the right.
