Description

This is a former ochre works dating to the late 18th century and early 19th century. The house is built of rubble with a rendered finish, featuring a pantile roof, coped gables, and brick stacks. It presents a symmetrical three-story facade with three windows, containing glazing bar sash windows in exposed frames. The windows have cambered brick heads, with the central window arched and featuring a keystone. The ground floor windows are paired. A central panelled door is sheltered by a stone slab hood supported by brackets. Further detailing includes plaster end pilasters, a moulded cornice, and an ashlar parapet with coping.

The mill building adjoins the house to the left and projects forward. This taller, four-story structure is constructed from pennant stone rubble with a hipped pantile roof. It has four windows, each with two-light wooden casements set within cambered brick headed openings. Hoist openings are visible to the first and second floors, and a pulley beam extends from the third-floor window opening. A two-story, two-bay wing is attached to the left side of the mill. The complex represents an interesting example of a small, local industrial site.
