Description
The Rock House Farmhouse dates to the 18th and early 19th centuries and is arranged in a 'L' shape. The front elevation is two storeys high and built of ashlar, with a plinth, a band over the ground floor, and a moulded cornice topped by a blocking course. It has a double-pitched roof covered with slate at the front and pantile at the rear, with end chimneys featuring moulded caps. There are three windows, each with plate glass sashes and panelled shutters. A central doorway provides access to a through passage. The rear of the farmhouse has a range of two-light chamfered mullion windows, which may suggest an earlier origin for that part of the building. A rear wing includes a through passage and external steps leading to a granary.
To the right of the front of the farmhouse is a mid-19th century rubble barn with a pantile roof, extending approximately three or four bays and featuring a lean-to section with segmental arched openings. A parallel barn is located to the rear, also of rubble construction with a pantile roof, coped verges, and saddlestones.
