Description
The Fox is an 18th-century inn with alterations from the late 19th century and 20th-century additions. The inn is constructed of rendered rubble with brick and stone dressings, and has plain tiled and double Roman tiled roofs, featuring gable stacks and a lead-roofed cupola with weathervane. It has two storeys and four windows, with outer windows in canted, two-storey bays set on brick and stone plinths, all dating to the 19th century. These bays contain 6-light casement windows with 4-light upper sections. A moulded cornice runs along the first floor and ground level of the bays. The ground floor includes a 20th-century door and window under a canopy with a pitched roof supported by moulded wooden piers. The first floor has two central sash windows in exposed boxes. The building is topped with a parapet and coping, and features a lantern on a bracket. A single-storey wing from the 19th century adjoins the right side and has a hipped roof, a single 3-light casement window, and mounting steps. 20th-century extensions are located to the rear.
