Description

Hollywood Tower, now used as offices, was built around 1820 and has later 19th and 20th-century additions and alterations. The building is constructed of limestone ashlar with a rubble and rendered rear block, topped with a slate roof, and is designed in the Palladian style. It is two storeys high with three windows, all featuring plate glass sashes with shutters. The façade includes a plinth and a semi-circular Roman Doric portico that has a panelled and glazed door set in a reeded architrave, topped with a carved draped spear and a large fanlight with a lantern. The ground floor features recessed arches with carved draped spears above the windows, while the central window on the first floor has a cornice and brackets, with the outer windows in plain reveals. There is a returned string course, cornice, parapet, and coping.

To the right, there is a single-storey, three-bay wing with a central semi-circular bay that has three windows in plain reveals and recessed panels above. The outer windows are set in recessed arches with carved draped spears, and the wing also has a cornice, parapet, and coping. The garden façade to the southwest features a semi-circular bay on the left with three French windows and recessed panels above, and two additional windows to the right similar to those on the front, with a central blind window on the first floor.

Inside, the central hall boasts an elaborate cornice and an oval lantern above an open-well staircase, which has carved sides to the treads, gadrooned balusters, and a wreathed handrail. There are also panelled doors and marble and wood mantelpieces.

Attached to the north is an early 19th-century stable, rendered with a slate roof and a weathervane. This single-storey stable has a central bay that projects forward and features two carriage entrances beneath a large pediment, with a round-headed window in the tympanum. There are three segmental-headed windows to the right, with only one visible to the left due to 20th-century additions.

An attached wall made of coursed rubble has a block of three dog kennels built against it, each with a hipped slate roof and a central ventilation louvre, and all kennels feature hooped railings to their enclosures. The attached wall also includes plain piers.
