Description

Village Farmhouse is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the 17th century with later alterations and additions. It is constructed of rubble with roughcast and features pantiled roofs, gable stacks, and a double Roman tiled porch. The building has a T-plan layout, including a projecting front wing. It stands two storeys high and has a window arrangement of 1:3, with all 20th-century wooden casements consisting of one, two, or three lights. The porch, located in the third bay from the right, has a panelled and glass door, and there are three skylights in the roof. The north wing has two 20th-century windows and a door in the north gable end, while the south side features a conservatory and a single light window in the gable. The rear of the house has a window arrangement of 4:1, with all being two-light casements, and a panelled and glass door in the second bay from the left. The lower wing has a four-light casement.

Inside, there is a through passage and a former dairy with a cheese loft above to the north. The central room contains stopped beams and a lintel above the fireplace, with a brick bread oven in the east reveal. In the east wall, there is a small spice cupboard with a door featuring scratch mouldings and butterfly hinges. The south room also has stopped beams and a fireplace lintel. A cellar under part of the house has a chamfered and stopped door frame that has been cut back for the passage of barrels.
