Description

Upton Farmhouse, dating from the mid-17th century, is constructed of rubble with a pantile roof and stone lower courses, featuring later brick chimneys and two dormer gables at the front. The building has two storeys and attics in the gables, with three windows that are 3-light leaded casements, complete with moulded wooden mullions, dripmoulds, and single transoms on the ground floor to the right. A central gabled stone porch has a modern door in a moulded frame, with seats inside and a blocked oval window on one side. To the right, there is a projecting gabled wing that is one and a half storeys high, featuring a 2-light attic window with a dripmould and a rusticated oval window at the top of the gable. A door with a gable is located to the left, while the left-hand return has a door with a chamfered surround and a window beneath a continued drip. The rear elevation mirrors the front, with a single storey wing to the left that includes a chamfered door surround and a window under a continued drip. There is also a two-storey outbuilding extension to the right. The interior has been altered, with the ground floor right-hand room featuring a fireplace with a cambered head. Several casements retain decorative fasteners.
