Description
Manor Farmhouse is a building that likely dates from the mid to late 17th century, situated on a site recorded in the Domesday Book. The house is L-shaped and constructed of rubble with quoins, topped with modern pantile roofs. It has two storeys and a frontage that steps down from the right.
The left portion features two windows on each floor, which are 2 and 3-light casements with moulded stone mullions and dripmoulds. One ground floor window has a relieving arch above it. The central door is plain and set within a moulded stone frame. The right portion has one 3-light stone mullioned casement on the ground floor, with a modern 2-light mullion window above it. There is a doorway to the right of centre that has a stopped ogee moulded surround.
The attic gable includes a 2-light stone mullioned casement on one rear elevation and on the side. A 4-light mullioned window with a relieving arch is located in the rear gable. Most other windows are irregular, primarily 2-light casements with dripmoulds. Additionally, two keyed oval windows have been incorporated into a modern porch lobby at the rear. All gables feature flat copings and saddlestones, except for two that have a pair of ashlar stacks with moulded caps set diagonally.
Inside, there is a large fireplace in the central ground floor room, which has an ovolo moulded cambered lintel. This room also contains a large beam with multiple ogee moulding. A newel stair leads from the south room to the first floor. On the first floor, there are two 17th-century studded doors and one door surround with a stopped ovolo moulding.
