Description
The gates, gate piers, and boundary wall to Upton House date from the 18th century and are located from the Old Bitton track to the south and the Old Coachhouse to the north. The entrance gate piers are made of rusticated ashlar and feature moulded capping and ball finials, with the lower parts being godrooned. Flanking the gates are early 19th-century quadrants, and the boundary walls are constructed of coursed rubble, standing about 5 feet 6 inches high, topped with moulded coping. The wall has a rounded north-east corner and extends from the Old Bitton track to the south to the Old Coachhouse to the north-west. A segment-headed doorway with a central ball finial links the structure to the coachhouse.
