Description
Holister’s Farmhouse dates primarily to the 17th and early 18th centuries. It is constructed of rubble with pantile roofs. The front of the farmhouse comprises two joined units, with the portion to the right being higher and featuring coped gables. The front gable has a saddlestone and an oval window. The farmhouse has two storeys and attics, with two windows on each level. Around 1700, three-light stone mullioned casements with common dripmoulds were originally present, though modern windows of a similar mullioned style now occupy their place, replacing a former door.
The left-hand unit is longer and has a moulded coping to the parapet, with three modern gabled dormers. Two windows are spaced widely apart on each floor, featuring three-light stone mullioned casements with dripmoulds. A door opening with a wide, square, bolection architrave has a hollow, elliptical stone hood supported by heavy, folded scroll brackets (which are positioned upside down). Chimneys have been removed, although a saddlestone remains visible on the left-hand verge. A modern, one-and-a-half-storey extension in a 17th-century style has been added to the left. A wellhead is located at the front of the property. The rear elevation is similar to the front. Internally, the staircase features thick turned balusters on a straight string.
