Description

This is a range of farm buildings located about 40 metres northwest of Parks Farmhouse, dating from the early 19th century with some 20th-century alterations. The buildings are constructed from coursed rubble with stone dressings and quoins, topped with stone tiled roofs that feature raised coped verges and finials on the barn gables. The byres are partially roofed with corrugated asbestos.

The barn has a shelter shed attached to its east side and the byres form an L-shape to the west, creating a courtyard. There is an additional range of byres to the west and a cottage at the western end of the range. The shelter shed has a south front with an arcade of three segmental-headed openings and two gabled dormers, of which some leaded lights remain. The right side features an external stair leading to a loading door, which is sheltered by a gabled porch on a wooden frame.

Inside the shelter shed, there is a four-bay roof with a collar and one row of purlins, although the floor to the upper storey is missing. The barn's east elevation includes a segmental-headed cart entry and ventilation slits on either side, with the left slit blocked. The south elevation has an owlhole in the gable end and a single-storey addition with two doors and a four-pane window, along with a small slit in the gable end. The west elevation features a high gabled cart entry and three pigeon holes in the gable end, with single-storey lean-tos on both sides. Inside the barn, there is a seven-bay roof supported by tie-beam and king-post trusses.

The single-storey byres attached to the west have a north range with six open-fronted bays supported by wide ashlar piers, while the west range has two doors and a three-pane window under the eaves, also with a corrugated asbestos roof. There is a further five-bay range that continues the line of the north range, which is open-fronted and also has a corrugated asbestos roof. The interior of the byres was not inspected.

At the western end, there is a two-storey cottage with two windows, a central door, and a first-floor window on the left that breaks through the eaves line. The interior of the cottage was not inspected, and it was noted to be in poor condition at the time of the survey in October 1984, with the stone tiled roof partially missing.
