Description
The building is a storehouse, possibly an icehouse, and folly located approximately 70 metres northwest of Hambrook House. It dates from the mid-19th century and is constructed of rubble and ashlar. The structure is circular with a domed roof and features a central circular top light. There is a pointed arched entrance on the west side, which is approached between low curved flanking walls. Above the arch, there is a pedimented plaque that reads "GERIZIM," and the entire structure is covered by an earthen mound. Atop this mound is the upper 6 metres of the spire from Winterbourne Church, which was damaged by lightning in 1871. The spire is octagonal and ribbed, standing on a circular plinth on blocks above the central light in the mound. This spire was reset here by a former rector who lived in Hambrook House.
