Description
No. 14 High Street is a mid-18th century house located in the village street of Marshfield. It is constructed of ashlar with a Cotswold stone slate and double Roman tiled mansard roof, featuring coped raised verges and a coped parapet. The building has a panelled and balustraded design, with a dentilled eaves cornice. It stands two storeys tall, with cellars and attics accessed through three dormers. The ground floor has four windows and an off-centre door, while the first floor features six windows. The façade includes French rusticated end pilasters and glazing bar sash windows set in architraves, supported by brackets with panelled aprons on the first floor. There is a bay window in the centre of the ground floor and a semi-circular headed window above the door, which has a keystone and Gothick glazing. The entrance features a six-panel door within a Tuscan column doorcase and a segmental hood. This building is a notable local example of provincial baroque architecture.
