Description
The Toghill monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard about 5 metres west of the north aisle of the Church of St. Peter. It dates from the late 18th century and is made of limestone. The tomb features a flat top that is badly worn, with a moulded edge. It has fluted quarter balusters with moulded bases, and plain inscription panels on the east and west sides. On the north and south sides, there is a raised oval cartouche with putti in the spandrels and swags on the side panels, along with an incised frieze. The monument commemorates Stephen Toghill, who died in 1784, along with other family members.
