Description
The wall and gates located about 200 metres west of Dyrham House were built around 1800. They are made of limestone and feature cast and wrought iron elements. The low wall is approximately ½ metre high and extends about 20 metres to the south and 8 metres to the north. It is constructed from limestone ashlar with a moulded coping and has spear-topped railings along the southern length. The central wrought iron gates are notable for their spear tops and have strut supports for the panels on either side. The railings on the sides of the gates ramp down. It is important to note that the railings are missing from the northern section of the wall and had not been re-set as of the survey in September 1984.
