Description

The Carter chest tomb, located in the churchyard about 10 metres south of the chancel of the Church of St. Mary, is a late 18th-century sandstone chest tomb. It features a flat top with a moulded edge and plain quarter balusters. Inscriptions can be found on the north and south sides within double cartouches, which include decorative elements such as an hourglass, a putto, a trumpet, and a crown in the spandrels. The tomb has a moulded base and commemorates Henry Carter, who died in 1794, along with other family members.
