Description
Ashwicke Grange is a farmhouse dated "1858" above the porch, likely designed by J.K. Colling for J.C. Orred of Ashwicke Hall. The building is constructed from coursed square rubble with freestone dressings and quoins, topped with a Cotswold stone slate roof featuring coped raised verges on moulded kneelers and ashlar stacks with moulded cornices. It is two storeys high with an attic and has an L-plan layout, including a gabled cross wing to the right. The ground floor features a 3-light cross window on the left, while the attic has 2-light casements, and the upper floors have 1-3-1-light casements, all with chamfered mullions and surrounds under relieving arches. A gabled porch is located in the re-entrant angle, showcasing a chamfered pointed arch doorcase with arms and the date above. To the right, a single-storey office projects from the main structure. At the rear of the house, about 10 yards away, are two low coped rubble walls that flank a cart cleaning pond or carriage splash.
