Description
Great House Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century, which was remodeled in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The building is rendered and features a double Roman tiled roof with 19th-century brick stacks. It has an H-plan layout and consists of two storeys, cellars, and attics with steep gables. The façade is arranged in a 1:2:1 bay pattern and includes 2- and 3-light cross and casement windows with ovolo moulded mullions and surrounds, most of which have been restored or are from the 19th century. There are also glazing bar sash windows in the outer wings and a 20th-century circular window in the central gable. A 20th-century projecting porch with Tuscan columns and a pediment is present, and the west elevation features a projecting porch with a segmental headed doorway.
Inside, the farmhouse has an open well staircase with turned balusters, raised and fielded panelling, and a bolection moulded fire surround in the parlour located in the southeast. The dairy has a plaster cornice with a floral design, and there is 17th-century panelling around the north window embrasure, along with some extended collar beam trusses.
