Description

Parks Farmhouse has probable origins in the 15th century but underwent significant alterations by the end of the 17th century. The building has recently been restored and is constructed of rubble with a double Roman tiled roof. It is two storeys high with attics and features random modern casement windows. The layout is in an L shape, with the oldest part being the medieval gabled cross wing at the east end of the main east-west range. The room to the west is a 17th-century extension, and the north-east wing is also likely from the 17th century.

On the rear elevation, there is a large gable from the cross wing, a later gabled porch, a hipped roof on the north-east wing, and a large stack with offsets.

Inside, remnants of the timber-framed structure include a jowled and chamfered post and chamfered ties on the first floor, with windbracing visible in the attic and roof space. The Royal Commission on Historical Monuments suggests that the ground floor ceiling features reused 16th-century joists that are heavily chamfered with run-out stops. The door to the north-east wing on the upper floor has ovolo moulding with stops, and the adjoining room contains a 17th-century stop-chamfered beam. There is a central internal stack with a simple ashlar fireplace on the first floor, located near modern stairs.

The farmhouse is situated in the center of a medieval deer park.
