Description

Beach House is a late 18th-century ashlar-built house with a double saddle-slate mansard roof. It is situated on Biton Beach Lane, near Bitton. The main body of the house is two and a half storeys with a plain first-floor band, cornice, and a parapet with coping. It has three dormers and a symmetrical arrangement of six windows, with pairs of glazing bar sashes, and a central arched window on the first floor. A central stone portico features a pediment supported by Tuscan half columns, sheltering a panelled door with an oblong fanlight above. A two-storey wing, set back slightly to the left, also has a mansard roof with one dormer, a plat-band, cornice and parapet. To the right is an Early Victorian wing which projects forward with a hipped roof hidden behind the parapet. This wing has two tall windows with mullions and transoms on the first floor, a wide-angled bay window on the ground floor, and a flat bow window on its return.
