Description
The Haynes monument and railings, located about one metre south of the chancel of the Church of St. James the Great, is a chest tomb dating from the early 19th century. It is made of limestone and features cast iron railings. The tomb has a flat top with a moulded edge and a plain plinth. Each side of the tomb displays an oval inscription panel adorned with elaborate scrolled foliate carvings, corner pilasters, a cornice, and a narrow oak-leaf frieze at the corners. It commemorates Elizabeth Haynes, who died in 1852, along with other family members. The tomb is enclosed by spear-topped railings.
