Description

Gatherham Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, which was re-windowed and extended in the early 19th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. The building is constructed of rubble with rendered surfaces and features stone dressings. It has a triple roll tiled roof, with some courses of stone tiles at the eaves, raised coped verges, and gable stacks. Some areas of the roof are covered with pantiles and double Roman tiles at the rear.

The farmhouse has a symmetrical front with two storeys and five windows, all of which are cross windows featuring wide ovolo mullions and transoms. There is a central 20th-century door located in a gabled porch, and a continuous hood mould runs over the ground floor windows on both sides.

On the left side, there is a lower two-storey block, with a ground floor two-light casement window that has a wooden wide ovolo mullion, and a similar casement window at the first floor with a narrower mullion. There is also a lean-to structure attached to the rear left with a door.

The right side features a 20th-century attic window to the left and a lower two-storey block to the right, which has a ground floor 20th-century window and door, along with a 19th-century two-light casement window at the first floor. A single-storey pantiled lean-to is attached to the right, which includes a door and a two-light casement window.

At the rear, the building has a catslide roof down to ground floor level, covered with double Roman tiles, and a gable stack on the right. The interior has not been inspected.
