Description

Rookery Farmhouse and the attached barn are a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with alterations and additions made in the 20th century. The building is constructed from limestone rubble with stone dressings and features a double Roman tiled roof with raised coped verges and brick gable stacks. The front of the farmhouse was formerly symmetrical and is 2½ storeys high with two windows. The ground floor includes a three-light and a two-light casement window with ovolo mullions and a dripstone, while the right side has a three-light casement that has been altered for a 20th-century door with an added lean-to porch. On the first floor, there are two similar three-light casements and two similar two-light windows located under the eaves, along with two ammonites set into the wall. To the right, there is a two-storey flat-roofed extension from the 20th century. The barn, attached to the left, has a corrugated iron roof and a door with a timber lintel. The left side of the building features a loading door to the barn and two doors with segmental heads, one of which is blocked. The rear of the farmhouse consists of three blocks, with two located behind the main front, all covered by a catslide roof. There is a roof light and a 20th-century window in the central block, and the ground floor on the left has a three-light casement window from the 19th century. The interior has not been inspected.
