Description

This building, located at 309-311 Badminton Road, is a house dated 1642 on the front, with alterations and additions from the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of rubble, rendered with limestone dressings, and features a pantiled roof with gable stacks and diagonal chimneys on the right, while the rear has double Roman tiles. The layout is a cross passage plan in an L-shape, with a stair turret at the rear angle.

The house has two storeys and two windows on the front. The ground floor includes two 4-light casements with ovolo mullions, a king mullion, and a hood mould, along with a central 20th-century door. The first floor has two similar 3-light casements and a central datestone, with all windows being 20th-century replacements. The left side has a 20th-century window on both the ground and first floors, as well as a door. The rear features all 20th-century windows and lean-tos attached on both sides.

Inside, there are chamfered beams, and the room to the left, which was formerly the hall, contains a small decorated spice cupboard without a door. The staircase has a circular newel post with separate treads, and the attic flight has been removed. On the first floor to the right, there is a blocked fireplace with a plaster overmantel that remains, dated 1642.
