Description
Bath Lodge incorporates two lodge houses, flanking quadrant walls, and three sets of gates, gate piers, walls, and railings. This structure dates from the early to mid-19th century, with the gates and gate piers added in the mid to late 19th century. The flanking walls are made of coursed squared rubble and rise up to two identical lodges built of ashlar with slate roofs. These lodges are single storey with an attic at the rear. The front elevation features end quoins, a Venetian window with blocked outer lights, and a pediment that displays the ducal badge and coronet in the tympanum.
On the roadside of the lodges, there are screen walls topped with a parapet. Two keyed circular windows flank a doorway that has a Gibbs surround, which is topped by a segmental pediment also featuring the ducal coronet in the tympanum. The structure includes two ashlar gate piers with niches, a cornice, and iron lanterns on a base. The cast iron gates are adorned with the ducal badge (portcullis) and coronets.
