Description
Radford Lodge is a lodge that was part of the former Radford House, which was demolished in 1937. It likely dates from the late 18th century and was extended in the late 20th century. The building is finished in stucco or render, featuring simple stucco details such as a plinth and an impost string. It has a dry slate cross roof behind a pediment on each side, and the central feature is the truncated remains of a former dome, now topped with a turned finial. The lodge has a square single-cell plan with extensions.
On the visible sides, there are recessed segmental panels; the road-facing side has a hornless sash window with glazing bars, while the side facing the carriageway features a panelled door with a moulded hood above. The interior has not been inspected.
In front of the lodge, there are low walls connected to a pair of octagonal gate piers, which have ramped caps topped with ball finials. The gate piers were listed separately on May 1, 1975.
