Description

The Warring Tomb, located approximately 5 meters south of the Church of St Mary Blessed Virgin in Plympton, is a chest tomb dating from the 17th century. It commemorates William Warring of Colebrook, who died in 1672, his wife Elizabeth, who died in 1673, and their son John, who died in 1674. The tomb features inscribed initials "T H," which may belong to the mason. It is constructed from dressed coursed Plymouth limestone and has a projecting slate lid adorned with a skull and crossbones, and is rectangular in shape.
