Description
Brook House, Lambert Cottage, and Stoke Cottage form a terrace of three houses, with a datestone indicating that Brook House was built in 1805. The front of Brook House features incised stucco, while the first floor of its gable end is covered in slate hanging, and there is a painted rubble rear wing. The other two cottages are rendered. The buildings have a steep slate half-hipped roof, which includes three hipped dormers and three brick axial stacks that align with the ridge. They are equipped with cast-iron gutters, rainwater heads, and downpipes. The terrace has a double-depth plan and is two storeys high, with an overall six-window range.
Brook House features late 19th-century two-light casement windows with margin panes on the left side and a similar single-light window above the doorway, which has a six-panel door with fielded panels on the right. There is a moulded mid-floor string. Lambert Cottage, located in the center, has 20th-century tripartite horned sashes with glazing bars on the left, and an older 12-pane hornless sash above what appears to be the original four-panel door with flush panels on the right. Stoke Cottage has a 20th-century copy horned sash with glazing bars on the left, above an original 16-pane hornless sash, and a blind window above a 20th-century door on the right. The interior has not been inspected but may hold interest.
