Description
The garden wall extends approximately 80 yards to the southeast from the south corner of Ashton Court Mansion and includes the North Gate and South Pillar. Likely built in the 19th century, the wall incorporates features from the early to mid-17th century. It is constructed from rubble and brick, standing between 6 and 10 feet high. The upper section features alternating large and small ashlar gables with a convex-step-concave outline, some topped with urn finials and finished with moulded saddleback coping. A decorative gothick cast-iron gate is located at the north end, while a freestanding square ashlar pillar is found at the south end.
