Description

The Grange is a house dating from around 1760. It is constructed of rendered rubble with a slate roof, with pantiles on the rear block, and has brick gable-end stacks. Originally built on a double-depth plan, the house has two storeys and an attic, with a symmetrical five-window front. A porch with a flat canopy supported by four stanchions featuring acanthus-leaf bases and capitals shelters a half-glazed front door. The windows are plate-glass sashes set within flush boxes, with three dormers in the roof. A 20th-century extension is present at the right end. The interior features a central passage leading from the front door, and a dogleg staircase with column newels. Ground-floor windows have six-panel shutters. Originally a worker’s cottage associated with the Ashton Court estate.
