Description
The Church of St Bartholomew is an Anglican parish church built between 1883 and 1887 by E W Barnes of Bristol. It features a nave, north and south transepts, a chancel, a porch, and a tower located at the south-west. The church is constructed from coursed and snecked squared rubble with freestone dressings, topped with a plain tiled roof that has a crested ridge. Its architectural style is primarily 14th century, with elements of middle Gothic design.
The south-west tower consists of three stages and is supported by diagonal buttresses. It includes two single light cusped lancet windows in the bell chamber, and on the second stage, there are single light windows flanking an ogee-headed image niche with a canopy. The south doorway features three orders with columns that have foliate capitals and a moulded pointed arch.
Inside, the nave has four bays with 2-light windows that have reticulated tracery, and there are buttresses between the windows. The west window is a six-light design with curvilinear tracery. The south transept contains a wheel window, while the north transept features a circular window with quatrefoils in circles. The chancel mirrors the nave's reticulated tracery and has a three-light east window designed in a Geometric style.
