Description

A shop premises with offices above, dating from 1889 and likely designed by Hans Price. The building is constructed of limestone ashlar, with a slate roof and ashlar stacks. It is built in a Jacobethan Italianate/Flemish style.

The building has three storeys and an attic, and features a symmetrical west front of 3:3:3:3:3 bays. Pilasters enrich the facade, separating the bays and creating cornices and broad friezes with arabesques and festoons between the storeys. The first floor has tripartite round arch windows with console keyblocks and cast-iron balconettes; the second floor features Venetian windows. Above the eaves cornice, a stone balustrade is positioned between a pair of pedimented gables, each with pilasters and shell tympana over the windows. The ground floor has end pilasters and a coved fascia above four shop fronts, although those of numbers 132 and 134 have been replaced. The interior has not been inspected.
