Description

The Constitutional Club, built around 1880 and designed by architect Hans Price, is a Tudor-style building notable for its Gothic corner tower in the Burges style. Constructed from Bath stone, it features a modern tiled roof and stands at 2½ storeys tall, with a prominent boulevard elevation. The main façade includes a gabled bay with a two-storey mullioned and transomed window. The three-stage corner tower is capped by machicolations and a crenellated parapet, with a two-stage timber-framed structure and a pyramidal slate roof. On Longton Grove Road, there is a square niche containing a statue above a label door piece, with three additional mullion and transom style windows. The statue is said to represent St Kew. This building was formerly the Kew Masonic Lodge.
