Description
This is a row of twelve terraced houses, numbers 31 to 49 Woodhill Road, likely built around 1835, although they may be slightly earlier. The houses are two storeys with an attic and basement, constructed of ashlar. They feature ramped cornices, and the attic has blind windows and plain coping. The slate roofs have been largely replaced with modern tiles.
Each house has three bays, with glazing bar sash windows topped by flat arches. The front doors are panelled, with four or six panels, and are accompanied by wreathed and radiating fanlights. Several original porches from around the same period or mid-19th century have been retained. Number 33 incorporates intersecting and diamond-pattern glazing. Nos 43, 45 and 49 display different lattice work designs.
The rear elevation has regular fronts, including full-height basement levels, and a variety of bays, oriels, and balconies above the ground floors. A number of original square bay oriels with intact glazing bars remain. The houses are divided by pilasters with rounded tops. The ramped cornices are repeated on the rear elevation.
