Description

Adelaide Terrace likely dates to around 1840. It projects forward from the adjacent terraces to the north and south, which were built earlier and later respectively. The terrace comprises nine bays, arranged as a 2-4-2 bay pattern, and is constructed with ashlar facing, a prominent cornice, and a blocking course. The roof is pitched and originally covered with slate, though much of it has been replaced with modern tiles. The windows are glazing bar sash windows, with bracketed cornices, and the ground floor windows feature an enriched frieze. The doorways are recessed and have marginal oblong overlights, with porches supported by pairs of plain Doric columns. Number 29 has plate glass sash windows and a two-storey angled bay incorporating modillion cornices and an attic. The rear of the terrace retains good ironwork to the first-floor balconies, with two verandahs remaining.
