Description
Eastwood and the former coach house and stable to the west were built in the late 1830s, with one stack reportedly dated 1836. They were likely designed by local architect J R Sturge. The buildings are in the Tudor Gothic style, constructed of random rubble with ashlar dressings and a slate roof.
The south side features two storeys and an attic in the center, with three windows that have glazing bar sashes and drip moulds above. There is a single storey projecting stone porch with a four-centre arched entrance framed by a moulded square-head surround. The porch has full-height side windows with diamond glazing bars and corner buttresses. The deep projecting bracketed eaves are adorned with fretted bargeboards, and there are octagonal shafted chimneys.
On the north side, the building rises to three storeys and includes a splayed projecting bay with a cast iron bracketed balcony. Attached to the west is a single storey glazed conservatory supported by heavy stone columns and topped with octagonal finials. To the west of the main house, there is a two-storey stable and coach house, built of rubble with a slate roof. The stables have round-headed doors, with a modern garage attached, and a hay loft above, along with a small room accessible from the garden.
