Description
This is a barn located to the north of Phippens Farmhouse, dated 1784 on the south wall. It is constructed of coursed rubble with large, flush rusticated dressed stone quoins and has a pantile roof. The barn is two storeys high with a loft. The south facade features a carriage arch on the left side, which has two plank doors under a wooden lintel, and a further decayed plank door on the second floor to the right. Below this is a segmental-headed window with a six-pane fixed light. There is a datestone below the central upper opening, which contains a window frame with a central mullion. The left end wall has three two-light wooden frames in openings. Inside, there is a complete boarded floor at the first floor level, with a wooden partition to the right and a simple through purlin, tie beam roof structure. The barn is included in the listing primarily for its group value.
