Description
The Churchyard Cross, located in the churchyard south of the Church of St Michael and All Angels, is a Grade II* listed structure made of limestone. It dates from the 15th century and was restored in 1918. The cross features three tiers of wide octagonal steps, with the lower two tiers having moulded caps and bases. Above the steps is an octagonal socket with a moulded cap and base, leading to a shaft that is 0.5 metres high and transitions from a square plan to an octagonal shape. The upper section, which is from the 19th century, includes a crucifixion at the apex. This cross is documented in Charles Pooley's work, "The Old Stone Crosses of Somerset," published in 1877.
