Description

The gates, piers, and overthrow located 10 yards south of the south porch of the Church of St. Lawrence are an entrance feature to the churchyard, dating from the late 18th century. They are constructed from ashlar and feature cast and wrought iron elements. The entrance consists of a pair of cast iron gates with a curved head and a central decorative frieze, flanked by square piers set on a small plinth. Each pier has a low pyramidal cap above a projecting cornice and is topped with an ogee-shaped wrought iron overthrow that includes a lantern bracket.
