Description

Hodder's Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse constructed from rendered stone rubble, with brick walls raised at the eaves. It features a Bridgewater tile roof with two levels and gabled ends, along with stone axial and gable end stacks, two of which have been rebuilt in brick. The layout consists of a three-room plan with a through passage; the lower end and inner room are heated by gable-end stacks, while the hall has an axial stack that backs onto the passage. There is a 20th-century single-storey wing at the rear of the left end and a 19th-century outshut at the right end.

The exterior is two storeys high with an asymmetrical southeast front that has a total of five windows, including 19th and 20th-century two-light casements. A doorway is located to the right of the centre, featuring a 17th-century wooden ovolo-moulded frame and an original two-panel door, set within a later rendered gabled porch. At the rear, there are two first-floor windows with ovolo-moulded wooden frames and 18th or 19th-century two-light casements below. A passage rear doorway to the left of centre also has a 17th-century ovolo-moulded wooden frame and a plank door.

The interior has not been inspected but is believed to contain exposed ceiling beams and joists, a large fireplace, a plank partition, and a principal rafter roof structure with collars and tenoned purlins.
