Description
No. 3 Church Road is a cottage dating from the 16th century, possibly a remodelling of an earlier house, which was altered and restored in the mid-19th century. The building is constructed from coursed, squared rubble with freestone dressings and large quoins, topped with a pantile roof featuring coped raised verges. It has two storeys and three bays, with 2-light windows that have hollow chamfered ashlar surrounds and trefoil heads, all beneath square dripmoulds. There is a central doorway, which is partly blocked, featuring a chamfered surround with a 4-centred head. A 20th-century wing has been added to the rear. Inside, there is an ashlar fire surround with ogee and hollow moulding and a 4-centred head; a similar fireplace is reportedly located behind bookshelves.
