Description

The stables and coach house at Home Farm date from the mid-19th century and are built from coursed pink stone rubble. They feature a Bridgwater clay tile roof adorned with ornate pierced barge-boards on the gables. The building has a long plan with the coach house at the center and flanking stables, with lofts above. The ground level at the rear is higher.

The exterior is two storeys tall and consists of a long seven-bay range. To the left of the center is a projecting gabled bay that contains a depressed two-centred arch coach house doorway. There are two bays to the left and four bays to the right, each with stable doorways on the ground floor featuring hoodmoulds and plank doors. Above these are loft windows and doors set in small gables, all of which have ornate pierced barge-boards. To the left of the gabled coach house, there are stone external stairs leading to a loft doorway with a plank door. The rear of the building has a higher ground level and features a projecting gable to the right of center with a doorway to the loft.

The interior has not been inspected. This structure is part of an important Victorian planned farmstead at Tyntesfield.
